Childcare & Teens
Childcare and Teen Program
Please Note: Due to space restrictions, priority for access to childcare will be given to families living more than 100km away from Regina.
Snugglers (Under 2 Years Old)
We are a family-first conference and encourage young families with infants to attend as well. If you have an infant under years old, Snugglers will be on hand to hold your baby close by during sessions.
Childcare (Age 2 - 12)
Staffed with Registered Nurses/Licensed Practical Nurses, Developmental Workers, and Early Childhood Educators, Hope's Home is able to meet the varying and complex medical, developmental, and educational needs of all the children attending daycare.
We are pleased to be providing child care services for children 2-12 years of age to the families attending the Canadian Down Syndrome Society’s Annual Conference in Regina. Our goal is to provide safe, fun programming for children while parents attend the conference making their time in Regina relaxing and worry free.
Child care will be provided each day from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, May 15 and 16. It will be the responsibility of the family to drop off and pick up their child.
We request that families pack a small back pack or bag, labeled with their child’s name and include the following items:
- An empty water bottle for each child (labeled with the child’s name)
- A change of clothing for children five and under
- Diapers (a supply for the day)
- Any personal care items such as diaper creams
- Any special sleep toy or blanket the child uses at rest time
In addition we recommend that the children wear appropriate play clothes and suitable footwear (sneakers are recommended).
All food will be provided by the conference organizers. If your child requires a special diet or has food related allergies please ensure that conference organizers are made aware of any special diet requirements or food restrictions (there is a place on your Conference Registration Form for this information).
Activities for children aged 2 - 6 will vary from activities for children aged 7 - 12. Please stay tuned to our website for more detailed childcare events as they unfold.
Teen Progam (Age 13 - 17)
This program is going to be like nothing your teen has ever been a part of before. In 11 hours this group of teens will be involved in a “Make a Movie” project which will give them the opportunity to work with a professional local film maker, local acting professionals, as well as high school teachers who work with teens that are differently-abled.
Teens will have an opportunity to get behind the camera and show off their acting skills in front of the camera as well. The acting and film workshops will take place at the hotel but the making of the films will happen within walking distance from the hotel because there are plenty of interesting places in our downtown area – Victoria Park, the Cornwall Centre, coffee shops, the Central Branch Library… Teens will be partnered into workable groups with lots of teen and adult leadership but the ideas will be generated amongst the teens who are involved.
Following a day of filming our program will culminate with a screening and post show discussion.
